What are Food Sensitivities?


So if you know me, you have probably heard me talk about food sensitivities. So how do you develop food sensitivities? I'm here to explain it all to you.


Food Sensitivities occur when the gut has been impaired, such as the dreaded leaky gut. I mean can you blame our guts, after eating all the processed foods, chemicals, sugar, pesticides and more. Food isn't really food anymore. No wonder our guts have taken a major hit.


When a person is hypersensitive to a food, the reactions are usually delayed. It can up to 72 hours to see a delayed food reaction. This is normally a food sensitivity. You may have diarrhea, constipation, bloating, a rash, headaches or more. Usually when you are sensitive to a food it will release something called a mediator like histamines or cytokines. Cytokines can actually cross/break the blood brain barrier and disrupt the neurological pathways (hence the headaches).


A person may have an IgE "food allergy" to foods and that you should know right away, because it will affect your breathing or cause major hives. For those foods, please refer to your allergist.


Now, how do you find out what your food sensitivities are? Well, I am here to help you with that. Doctors developed the MRT test which has become the gold standard for food reaction testing. The MRT reveals food sources of inflammation and reliability of this test is beyond greater than the average IgG test. The MRT tests for the actual blood volume change when the antigen is introduced, meaning it will show you if there is a reaction or no reaction, plain and simple.


Now I do recommend that when you do this test with me, we also work on healing your gut a the same time so that way you don't develop new sensitivities. The GI-map and MRT go hand in hand and are highly recommended when you start to work with me.
